BMW’s direct injected engines have had a little rough going early on namely in the N54, which thankfully has been improved with warranties and parts from BMWNA that have corrected the High Pressure Pump (HDP) failure. But the fuel injectors have had their share of issues throughout with no extended warranty offered from BMW. Thankfully new injectors were recently released from BMW for the N63, N74, and N54 with “improved internal filtering” and “special thermo compensating oil”. The New York BMW Display is showing off two model concepts this week. The i8 Concept Roadster and the smaller i3 all electric city car. The i8 can do 60mph in just 4.5 seconds! Although it’s lacking electric only driving at just 20 miles on solely electric power, it has a total range of over 300 miles in hybrid driving mode. The i3 on the other hand has an 80-100 mile range.

These outdated systems have been replaced with modern coil-on-plug style ignition systems with zero moving parts and extended service intervals.
